Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 8¢ to 195.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 6 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 8.4¢ to 195¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 7.7¢ to 196.6¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 216¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (198.6¢), Victoria (196.7¢), Queensland (196.5¢), NSW/ACT (195.8¢), South Australia (193.5¢), and Western Australia (191.9¢).

Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 189.6¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (192.1¢), Sydney (194.6¢), Melbourne (196.1¢), Hobart (196.5¢), Brisbane (197¢), Canberra (201.4¢), and Darwin (201.6¢).
