Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 0.4¢ to 186.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 6 April, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 0.7¢ to 184.8¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 0.2¢ to 188.4¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 207.9¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (188.8¢), Queensland (188.2¢), NSW/ACT (186.2¢), Victoria (186¢), and Western Australia (184.4¢) and South Australia (184.4¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide and Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 181.2¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (182.1¢), Melbourne (184.3¢), Darwin (185.6¢), Hobart (188.3¢), Brisbane (188.6¢), and Canberra (194.2¢).
