The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 0.3¢ to 118.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 31, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 0.4¢ to 116.9¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 0.2¢ to 120.2¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 136.6¢, then Tasmania at 133.3¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (119.6¢), Victoria (118.1¢), NSW/ACT (118.0¢), Queensland (117.1¢) and South Australia (116.5¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 108.7¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (114.5¢), Brisbane (116.4¢), Perth (117.2¢), Melbourne (117.3¢), Darwin (117.8¢), Canberra (120.5¢) and Hobart (133.7¢).
