The average price of diesel fuel in Australia fell 0.4¢ to 163.3¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 5 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 0.3¢ to 162.7¢ a litre, while the regional fell 0.4¢ to 163.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 176.4¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (172.2¢), Western Australia (163.6¢), Queensland (163.1¢), NSW/ACT (162.8¢), Victoria (162.3¢), and South Australia (160.9¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 158.5¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (160.4¢), Melbourne (161.8¢), Perth (162.5¢), Brisbane (163.6¢), Canberra (166.8¢), Darwin (165.4¢), and Hobart (175.2¢).
