The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 0.4¢ to150.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 26, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 0.4¢ to 148.8¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 0.3¢ 151.4¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 160.5¢, then the Northern Territory at 159.9¢ a litre, followed by South Australia (150.8¢), NSW/ACT (150.3¢), Western Australia (150.0¢), Queensland (149.9¢) and Victoria (148.3¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 143.9¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (145.6¢), Sydney (147.6¢), Perth (147.7¢), Melbourne (148.0¢), Brisbane (150.2¢), and Hobart (161.4¢).
