Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia dropped 5.8¢ to 148.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending January 26, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 9.3¢ to 149.0¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 1.2¢ to 147.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in South Australia at 157.5¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (155.8¢), Northern Territory (151.7¢), Victoria (148.9¢), NSW/ACT (148.2¢), Queensland (147.3¢), and Western Australia (143.5¢).

Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 139.8¢ a litre, followed by Perth (141.9¢), Canberra (146.6¢), Sydney (147.1¢), Brisbane (147.7¢), Melbourne (151.4¢), Hobart (155.7¢) and Adelaide (160.4¢).
