Weekly diesel prices

The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 1.8¢ to 214.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 27 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1.8¢ to 213.7¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 1.9¢ to 215¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 227.1¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (217.4¢), Victoria (215.1¢), Queensland (214.8¢), NSW/ACT (214¢), Western Australia (213.2¢), and South Australia (210.5¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 210.9¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (211.4¢), Perth (211.5¢), Darwin (214.2¢), Melbourne (214.6¢), Brisbane (215.3¢), Hobart (216.4¢), and Canberra (218.4¢).
