The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 1¢ to 149.1¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 26 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 1¢ to 148.1¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.9¢ to 149.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 165.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (153.1¢), NSW/ACT (149.5¢), Queensland (149.4¢), Victoria (148.4¢), South Australia (147.6¢), and Western Australia (146.8¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 143.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (144.6¢), Sydney (147.5¢), Melbourne (148.3¢), Brisbane (149.3¢), Hobart (151.7¢), Darwin (154.3¢), and Canberra (154.8¢).
