The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 2.9¢ to 178.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 20 February, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 2.9¢ to 178.1¢ a litre, while the regional rose 2.9¢ to 178.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 192¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (185.1¢), Queensland (178.5¢), Victoria (178.3¢), NSW/ACT (178¢), Western Australia (177.2¢), and South Australia (177¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 175.8¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (176.3¢), Sydney (176.6¢), Melbourne (177.8¢), Brisbane (179.4¢), Canberra (181.9¢), Darwin (185.7¢), and Hobart (186.2¢).
