Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose 0.3¢ to 148.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 19 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.5¢ to 147.1¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 0.2¢ to 149¢ a litre.

The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 164.9¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (152.5¢), Queensland (148.6¢), NSW/ACT (148.5¢), Victoria (147.6¢), South Australia (146.2¢), and Western Australia (145.6¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 142.4¢ a litre, followed by Perth (143.3¢), Sydney (146.2¢), Melbourne (147.5¢), Brisbane (148.4¢), Hobart (151.7¢), Darwin (153.7¢), and Canberra (153.9¢).
