The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 5.4¢ to 215.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 18 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 5.7¢ to 213.5¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 5.3¢ to 217.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 238.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (221¢), Queensland (220.6¢), Victoria (217.9¢), NSW/ACT (216.6¢), South Australia (207.8¢), and Western Australia (203.2¢).
Of the major cities, Perth offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 198.1¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (203.1¢), Sydney (211.2¢), Melbourne (217¢), Hobart (219.9¢), Brisbane (220.2¢), Canberra (223.2¢), and Darwin (225.1¢).
