The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 3.5¢ to 199¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 17 December, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 3.8¢ to 196.4¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 3.3¢ to 201.1¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 217.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (206.1¢), NSW/ACT (200.4¢), Queensland (200¢), Victoria (197¢), Western Australia (196.4¢), and South Australia (193.4¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 185.3¢ a litre, followed by Perth (191.2¢), Melbourne (195.3¢), Darwin (195.9¢), Sydney (196.6¢), Brisbane (199.7¢), Hobart (203.5¢), and Canberra (204.9¢).
