The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia fell 0.7¢ to 189.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 16 March, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 0.9¢ to 187.9¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 0.8¢ 190.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 208.7¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (191.7¢), Queensland (191.1 ¢), Victoria (189.2¢), NSW/ACT (189¢), South Australia (186.5¢), and Western Australia (186.4¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 182.5¢ a litre, followed by Perth (183.3¢), Sydney (186.3¢), Darwin (186.8¢), Melbourne (187.4¢), Hobart (190.9¢), Brisbane (191.9¢), and Canberra (196¢).
