The average price of diesel fuel in Australia stayed at 120.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 9 August, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price stayed at 118.5¢ a litre, while the regional price stayed at 121.6¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 135.7¢, then Tasmania at 132.8¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (120.7¢), South Australia (120.0¢), NSW/ACT (119.9¢), Victoria (119.3¢) and Queensland (118.6¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 115.5¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (117.1¢), Darwin (117.2¢), Melbourne (118.3¢), Perth (118.4¢), Brisbane (118.5¢), Canberra (122.3¢) and Hobart (135.2¢).
