The average price of diesel fuel in Australia rose by 0.5¢ to 150.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 5, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.3¢ to 149.7¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 0.6¢ to 151.3¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the NT at 163.6¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (160.5¢), WA (151.8¢), NSW/ACT (150.3¢), SA (150.3¢), Queensland (149.9¢) and Victoria (148.5¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 148.2¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (148.4¢), Melbourne (148.8¢), Adelaide (149.3¢), Perth (150¢), Brisbane (150.5¢), Canberra (153.4¢) and Hobart (159.8¢).
