The average price of diesel fuel in Australia dropped 3.9¢ to 125.0¢ a litre nationally in the week ending April 19, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price dropped 3.5¢ to 123.9¢ a litre, while the regional price dropped 4.0¢ to 126.0¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 146.7¢, then Tasmania at 137.0¢ a litre, followed by Western Australia (127.2¢), Queensland (124.7), Victoria (124.3¢), NSW/ACT (123.0¢) and South Australia (120.8¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 117.7¢ a litre, followed by Sydney (118.7¢), Melbourne (123.8¢), Canberra (124.0¢), Brisbane (124.4¢), Perth (126.4¢), Darwin (129.6¢) and Hobart (139.5¢).
