The average weekly diesel fuel price in Australia rose 1.2¢ to 224¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 1 October, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 1¢ to 223¢ a litre, while the regional price rose 1.4¢ to 224.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive diesel in the country was in the Northern Territory at 236.5¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (229.8¢), Victoria (224.8¢), Queensland (223.9¢), NSW/ACT (223.7¢), and Western Australia (222.1¢) and South Australia (222.1¢).
Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 219.2¢ a litre, followed by Perth (219.7¢), Sydney (221.6¢), Darwin (222.5¢), Brisbane (223.7¢), Melbourne (224.6¢), and Hobart (229.6¢) and Canberra (229.6¢).
