United Petroleum appoints chief executives

The independent retail and wholesale fuel company, which is reportedly planning to list on the ASX by the end of the year, has hired Gary Brinkworth as CEO and Neale O’Connell as Chief Financial Officer.

Mr Brinkworth has had numerous executive roles in top Australian companies, including Coles and spent several years working for BP in international markets. He will commence his new role in November 2016.

Mr O’Connell will join United Petroleum in February 2017, following 12 years with Tatts Group.

According to reports in The Australian, United Petroleum founders, Avi Silver and Eddie Hirsch are in the process of assembling the company’s board of directors. In addition to the founders and recent hires, the board will include Martin Hudson as Chairman and non-executive directors Tim Antonie and John Slack-Smith, with a further non-executive director to be appointed.

The Australian reports United Petroleum is floating through Credit Suisse and Morgan Stanley by the end of the year.
