The Coffee Club closes its number one store for redevelopment

Following almost 33 years of serving the Brisbane coffee community, The Coffee Club Eagle Street Pier will cease trade on 17 July, 2022 as Eagle Street Pier prepares for redevelopment.

“Myself, Emmanuel Kokoris and Emmanuel Drivas are most thankful for the amazing legacy that The Coffee Club Eagle Street Pier represents. From our first humble coffee shop, we now get to work with a network of the most amazing and dedicated franchisees across the world, who love providing the perfect coffee and service as much as we did from day one,” says The Coffee Club co-founder John Lazarou.

The Coffee Club was founded in 1989 by friends, in search for the perfect cup of coffee in the Brisbane City. The three founders, Emmanuel Kokoris, Emmanuel Drivas and John Lazarou, used their business knowledge and a trusted Greek philosophy of ‘Philoxenia- being a friend to the stranger’, to develop a trusted brand dedicated to delivering ‘Good Food, Great Service and Excellent Coffee’.

“We are so proud of the legacy that started serving our first coffee right here on November 2nd, 1989. The Coffee Club has grown from one coffee-obsessed waterfront store dedicated to serving the people of Brisbane to Australia’s most successful café brand, growing to almost 450 stores across 13 countries,” says The Coffee Club CEO Nick Bryden.

“It has been an absolute honour to continue fostering The Coffee Club’s mission to serve customers with good food, great service and excellent coffee since we opened at Eagle Street Pier 32 years ago. Whilst we are sad to say goodbye to our number one store, we are so proud to share the same values with our customers every day in our remaining stores around the world,” Mr Bryden said.

The Coffee Club Australia is committed to providing Brisbane with good food, great service and excellent coffee. The business is currently in negotiations with Dexus Property Group to return to Eagle Street Pier upon completion of the upcoming development and bring The Coffee Club’s iconic service back to the precinct.

“We will always cherish our Eagle Street Pier community and we would love to return to The Pier upon completion of the development. The Coffee Club is constantly innovating our brand and offerings, and we can’t wait to share this with the new customers that this development will bring to Eagle Street Pier!” Mr Bryden said.
