SodaStream utilises recycled materials and green energy

SodaStream Australia has launched the “eco-conscious” Recycled Black Terra and announced its Melbourne headquarters is now powered by 100% green energy.

In line with Earth Day (22 April), the strategic move is said to underscore the company’s “unwavering” commitment to reducing its environmental footprint and promoting sustainable practices across all levels of its operations.

The new Recycled Black Terra, made from 50% post-industrial recycled plastic, is promoted as a conscious upgrade to SodaStream’s popular Terra model.

“Combining innovative design with sustainability, this sparkling water maker offers consumers a stylish and environmentally friendly way to create personalised sparkling drinks at home – while replacing single-use plastic,” reads a statement.

“The Recycled Black Terra is designed to help replace over 1000 single-use plastic bottles over a five-year period, helping to keep the planet healthy and clean for everyone. By choosing SodaStream, consumers can make a meaningful impact by replacing single-use plastics and enjoying their favourite sparkling beverages at home while supporting a positive future.”

A major achievement in SodaStream Australia’s sustainability journey is the installation of solar panels at its Melbourne HQ and warehouse, enabling the site to now operate fully on 100% green energy. With these advancements, SodaStream says it’s actively reducing its reliance on fossil fuels and reinforcing its dedication to energy-efficient operations.

“We are incredibly proud to be taking these significant steps towards a greener future,” says SodaStream Australia Marketing Manager Holly Walker.

“By integrating recycled materials into our products and now powering our headquarters with green energy, we’re not only contributing to a circular economy but also demonstrating that sustainability and innovation can go hand-in-hand.”

The Recycled Black Terra is now available for purchase online at sodastream.com.au and in-store at Big W, Harvey Norman, and selected independent retailers, with a RRP of $119.
