Platts provides market insight for ACAPMA members

ACAPMA members at a recent industry event in Sydney were presented with a detailed market outlook from S&P Global (Platts) writes ACAPMA.

S&P Global hosted the information session with presentations from specialists who travelled from Singapore for the event, including S&P Global Associate Editor for Asia Oil Products Dex Wang.

ACAPMA members were provided with detailed analysis and discussion on the market trends in Asia and the Middle East around fuel, including movements in ‘provides’, changing supply and demand balances in the region and key price and demand factors for Asia in the near future (such as the push for ultra-low sulphur fuel).

Those attending were also given an opportunity to ‘deep dive’ into the price and trading methodologies for Asian and Middle Eastern fuel, including spot, paper, physical and MOPS strip calculation mechanisms.

The presentation was detailed and illuminating and was followed by a networking session where those attending were able to approach the S&P Global staff onsite.

This ‘Gasoline Insight’ session is the first in a series of information sessions planned, with a detailed session on diesel to follow shortly, and comes ahead of a more detailed presentation to be delivered as part of the upcoming Asia Pacific Fuel Industry (APFI) Forum conference in Singapore in September.

“Sessions like these provide an opportunity for ACAPMA members to access detailed information about the broader market in which they operate and are a taste of what delegates at the upcoming ACAPMA conference in Singapore will experience in the ‘Asia Pacific Market Profiles and Outlook’ session,” ACAPMA CEO Mark McKenzie said.

“We’re very pleased to have Platts Editorial Director Calvin Lee speaking on the near-term outlook on prices at the Asia Pacific Market Profiles and Outlook session, along with the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, Dr Fatih Birol, who will be speaking on demand and supply in the market, and Michael Joyce, Head of Oil and Gas for Norton Rose Fulbright, who will explore the structure, regulation and operation of fuel markets in the region.”

The Asia Pacific market is becoming more closely intertwined and Australian businesses are increasingly interested in understanding the broader regional market and how it impacts on the market here, with Australian regional wholesale and retailers turning out in strong numbers for these information sessions and registering for the APFI Forum conference in Singapore.”

Those attending the S&P Global session will have access to the full presentation, statistics and analysis in the coming days.

Anyone interested in attending future information sessions or the APFI Forum in Singapore are encouraged to forward their details to events@acapma.com.au.
