The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 0.5¢ to 129.2¢ a litre nationally in the week ending September 27, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 0.1¢ to 128¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 1.2¢ a litre to 131.7¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 137.8¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (133.2¢), the NT (132.3¢), WA (131.1¢), NSW/ACT (131.0¢), SA (128.6¢) and Victoria (122.1¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 120.6¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (128.6¢), Perth (129.0¢), Darwin (130.4¢), Sydney (130.9¢), Canberra (131.2¢), Brisbane (132.3¢) and Hobart (136.9¢).
