Petrol price update

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 0.2¢ to 113.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending May 1, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 1.8¢ to 111.8¢ a litre, with the regional price increasing 3¢ to 117.5¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 118.5¢ a litre followed by the NT (117.3¢), NSW/ACT (117.2¢), Queensland (114.2¢), SA (113.4¢) WA (113.2¢) and Victoria (108.6¢).

Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 106.6¢ a litre, followed by Perth (111.1¢), Adelaide (113.3¢), Brisbane (113.8¢), Darwin (114.0¢), Sydney (114.9¢), Canberra (115.5¢), and Hobart (116.8¢).
