The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 2.5¢ to 129.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending September 20, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 3.5¢ to 128.1¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 0.7¢ a litre to 132.9¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 138.2¢ a litre, followed by the NT (132.5¢), WA (132.2¢), SA (132¢), NSW/ACT (131.8¢), Victoria (127¢) and Queensland (126.3¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 122.1¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (126.6¢), Perth (130.3¢), Sydney (130.5¢), Darwin (130.6¢), Canberra (131.9¢), Adelaide (132.9¢) and Hobart (137.2¢).
