The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia decreased 1.6¢ to 124.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending December 6, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price decreased 2.2¢ to 123¢ a litre, with the regional price decreasing 0.6¢ a litre to 128.1¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 133.8¢ a litre, followed by the NT (130.1¢), WA (126.4¢), Victoria (126.1¢), SA (124.7¢), Queensland (123.7¢), and NSW/ACT (122.7¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 118.7¢ a litre, followed by Brisbane (120.9¢), Perth (123.9¢), Adelaide (124.4¢), Melbourne (126.4¢), Darwin (127.7¢), Canberra (128.0¢), and Hobart (133.8¢).
