Mondelēz International has announced the appointment of Toby Smith as President Japan, Australia and New Zealand, effective 4 January 2025.
Mr Smith succeeds Darren O’Brien who has been promoted to the role of the company’s global Chief Corporate and Government Affairs Officer, and will be relocating to the company’s headquarters in Chicago, United States.
Dynamic leader
With over 20 years at Mondelēz International, Mr Smith brings extensive experience in senior sales and leadership roles both locally and internationally. Most recently as Vice President of Sales Australia, he led transformational initiatives that elevated Mondelēz to preferred snacking supplier status with customers.
“Toby is a dynamic leader who inspires teams to think differently and challenge the status quo in responding to the changing world of snacking and growing consumer snacking habits,” said Deepak Iyer, Executive Vice President and President Asia, Middle East and Africa for Mondelēz International.

Mr Smith will now oversee 2300 employees, eight manufacturing plants and a business that sources from over 700 local Australian suppliers, driving growth for the company’s globally renowned brands.
