The team at Kingston Garage in Heatherton, Victoria, are celebrating after winning the prestigious Single Site Retailer of the Year – Licensed Markets at the Shell Global Awards for a second time.
Business owner Ross Hallett says he’s absolutely thrilled to have won, and that accepting the award in New York was just as “sweet” as winning in Paris two years earlier.
“To be the only Shell site in the world to have won the award twice and to have beaten 10,000 other service-station sites across more than 40 countries is simply amazing,” he said.
“We have a passion for what we do and believe that success comes down to good old-fashioned customer service.”
Shell hosts the global Smiling Stars awards every year to recognise their best-of-the-best retailers. The awards are a part of Shell’s People Make the Difference Real program, which provides a framework for measuring key elements of customer-service excellence.
Business Manager for Shell’s licensee in Australia, Jen Gray, says Mr Hallett and his team provide remarkable customer service.
“Ross’ service station has achieved 100 per cent in our mystery-shopper surveys an incredible 65 times in a row!” Ms Gray said.
“We’re thrilled that Ross has won the award again and are proud to have his business in our network.
“His Heatherton site has been branded Shell for 53 years and, under Ross’ guidance, has consistently improved the customer offer each year.
“After being named Country Retailer of the Year in Australia, Ross was competing against individual sites from countries where Shell operates under a licensed brand agreement including Japan, Brazil, Greece, Spain, Africa and the Caribbean, just to name a few.”
