Keeping sales hot in summer

As the weather warms up, many would assume the tendency is to reach for a lighter option, such as a salad over a hot pastry, says Mrs Mac’s Communications & Sustainability Manager Nikki Bower, but P&C consumers are often looking for more of a “satisfying” on-the-go choice.

“With the easy-to-eat format, the pie or sausage roll still sits high in consideration,” she says, adding that with Mrs Mac’s recent introduction of snack sizes and its Pastry Bakes, “these play well into a perceived lighter option”.

Patties Foods Marketing and Innovation Anand Surujpal also notes that while hot food is typically associated with the cooler months, Patties’ foodservice offerings continue to perform strongly over the warmer months as well, due to convenience, versatility, and popularity.

“It’s important to consider seasonal preferences and ensure consumers have an array of choice in-store,” he says.

Patties is launching Four’N Twenty Traveller Pizzas in P&C.

“While this isn’t typically a peak selling time for hot on-the-go foods,” Mr Surujpal says, “we’re introducing more snacking items to address this gap in the market.”

Patties will be rewarding its foodservice customers during the traditional entertaining season, from October to December.

“Covid has been challenging, particularly for small businesses, so as well as creating delicious food, Patties are also spreading some cheer this entertaining season and rewarding customers with a $10 gift card of their choice for every three boxes of eligible Patties, Boscastle and Leader products they order,” says Mr Surujpal.

Mrs Mac’s is also launching the “new and improved” Traveller filled-pastry range in the lead-up to summer.
