Hungry Jack’s trials barista coffee in Canberra

Hungry Jack’s has launched a trial of barista coffee at several of its ACT restaurants.

Kicking off today, the initial pilot of Jack’s Barista Coffee will be at five restaurants in Canberra. These are in the suburbs of Kambah, Belconnen, Fyshwick, Gungahlin and Queanbey.

Further roll out plans will be announced later in the year.

The coffee

According to Hungry Jack’s, Jack’s Barista Coffee blend is a “full-bodied cup with lively sweetness and medium acidity” that comes from a combination of Arabica beans from Papua New Guinea, Costa Rica and an earthy flavoured Robusta.

The “enticing aroma”, says the company, is of dried fruit, finished with a nutty, almond and pronounced apricot flavour profile giving a rich, velvety smooth barista coffee.

Training

Crew members, says Hungry Jack’s, have received “rigorous” training ahead of the launch. Each restaurant has also appointed designated baristas to manage and prepare orders.

Consistency, quality and care have been key in the development of Jack’s Cafes, claims Hungry Jack’s.

Restaurants will have the latest equipment, the company says, to ensure each customer receives the best coffee experience possible.

A response to consumer demand

Scott Baird, CMO of Hungry Jack’s says the introduction of Jack’s Café is in response to the growing consumer demand for barista coffee while on the go.

“We know our customers love the convenience of our drive-thru and Jack’s Café will elevate our offering, with the introduction of barista coffee and speciality beverages,” he said.

‘‘The Canberra trial will ensure the right foundations are in place to execute high quality barista coffee in all of our restaurants and we look forward to bringing this concept to all of our customers in the future.”
