HEYTEA, the globally renowned pioneer in new Asian-style teas, is expanding its footprint in Australia with the grand opening of its first Sydney store on 569 George Street, Sydney.
Founded in 2012 by Neo Nie in an alley called Jiangbianli, in China HEYTEA revolutionised the tea industry with the creation of the first-ever Cheese Tea. At the time, milk tea shops often used low-quality ingredients, serving milk teas made with non-dairy powder and tea powder. Frustrated by this, founder Neo Nie created the first-ever Cheese Tea in his own kitchen.
By softening the overpowering taste of tea with a fine layer of cheese foam made with real milk, he created an exciting alternative that marked the start of a new era of tea in China. To this day, unlike many bubble tea stores, HEYTEA has remained true to its ethos and never use artificial flavours or creamers, according to the brand.
From its humble beginnings, HEYTEA has expanded globally with over 4000 stores in more than 300 cities worldwide. This innovative approach to blending traditional tea flavours with a modern twist has garnered immense popularity, propelling its expansion into international markets such as New York, London, Singapore, and now Sydney. Furthermore, a pop-up store in Paris is bringing the HEYTEA experience to French tea enthusiasts this summer.
Recent global openings have included the first store in Manchester, UK, where an average 2100 cups were sold across the first three days, the arrival of HEYTEA’s sixth store in London saw 1400 daily cups initially, and the second store in Malaysia sold an average of 2500 daily cups across the first three days of trade.
“We are excited to bring HEYTEA to Sydney, a city that embodies diversity and innovation. Our expansion into Australia is a testament to our commitment to bringing unique modern tea experiences to new markets,” says HEYTEA Vice President, Overseas Strategy & Franchise Yujia Gu.
The new Sydney store offers HEYTEA’s signature drinks, including cheese tea, premium tea with creamy cheese foam, refreshing fruit teas made from natural ingredients, and an oat milk vegan option. Committed to promoting healthier alternatives, HEYTEA provides free upgrades to zero-sugar sweeteners, enhancing its appeal to health-conscious consumers.
HEYTEA continues to inspire joy and innovation through high-quality tea beverages as it expands globally, with ten store openings planned across Australia in the coming months.
