Grill’d is raising funds across its stores this month to help the homeless.
Aligning with Homelessness Awareness Week (7-13 August), Grill’d’s National Takeover will see all of its Local Matters fundraising jars dedicated to supporting the efforts of Vinnies, The Salvation Army and Thread Together throughout August.
Grill’d says there are three key homelessness issues being addressed between the three charities:
- Vinnies helps to provide nutritional meals to feed hungry Australians. Volunteers tackle disadvantage through practical assistance and advocacy.
- Volunteers with the Salvation Army assist people experiencing homelessness by finding a permanent and safe place to live, with positive community connection.
- Thread Together works alongside registered charities, welfare, and social service agencies to provide brand new clothing to more than 2500 Australians each week.
“Homelessness is an overarching issue that requires all of our attention and support, so the National Takeover is one of our initiatives where our restaurants across the country can give back to the groups who are doing big things, helping disadvantaged Australians when they need it most,” says Grill’d founder Simon Crowe.
Alongside its Local Matters program, Grill’d has ongoing initiatives that support the homeless community.
Grill’d City Support in partnership with Vinnies and The Salvation Army sees a Grill’d CBD restaurant in every major capital city close from 5pm on the first Tuesday of every month to feed anyone for free, no questions asked – with dignity. The initiative has recently reached a major milestone of providing 15,000-plus meals across multiple states.
On top of this, through Grill’d’s Relish 8 & Donate membership program, after every eight visit, a member can choose to take or to donate a free burger. If they decide to donate during Homelessness Awareness Week, Grill’d will double their donation.
Grill’d’s Local Matters National Takeover will run from 1-31 August and can be found in all restaurants across the country.
