As part of its rapid expansion, ‘award-winning’ confectionery brand FUNDAY Natural Sweets has announced the latest flavour in its natural lolly range— better-for-you Sour Cola Gummies, made with “no added sugar, no sugar alcohols, and the addition of prebiotics.”
The gummies continues the brand’s trademarked mission to encourage adults to ‘enjoy lollies like a kid again.’ The launch of the sour cola gummies will be backed by over 200 influencers, with a reach of over 13 million followers, in a combined marketing attempt to encourage Aussies to ‘find the sweet spot’ and enjoy a lolly that’s actually good for you.
From May 2023, the sour cola gummies will launch in Woolworths Supermarkets and will also be available nationally at Chemist Warehouse, Ampol Foodary, Harris Farms, and health food and independent supermarkets across Australia, as well as Chemist Warehouse New Zealand. In addition, they will be available in the Asian and Middle Eastern markets.
The company will be exhibiting its range at this year’s upcoming Naturally Good Event at Sydney’s ICC from 5-6 June, which will also feature other exhibitors in the competitive healthy confectionary space. Other FUNDAY products include Raspberry Gummy Frogs, Sour Peach Hearts, Fruity Gummy Snakes, Sour Vegan Gummy Bears and Fruity Vegan Gummy Bears.
Having just celebrated its second birthday, founder Daniel Kittay says the business has also signed-up with Australia’s leading national confectionery distributor The Distributors to launch deeper into the P&C channel—a move that will amplify their national coverage.
Mr Kittay said the company’s rapid expansion is a testament to their commitment to providing our customers with healthy and delicious treats. “In less than two years, we have successfully penetrated over 3000 stores and we are determined to reach 5000 stores by the end of 2023,” he said.
The company was established in 2021 by Mr Kittay with the aim of “revolutionising” the confectionery industry by creating “better-for-you sweets that don’t compromise on taste.” He noticed a gap in the market for confectionery that was not only delicious but also healthy and wanted to provide an alternative to traditional and ‘sugar free’ lollies that are packed with sugar and artificial sweeteners.
“FUNDAY stands out in the confectionery market in Australia and around the world as a rare better-for-you brand. What makes FUNDAY unique is its commitment to crafting products with no added sugar or sugar alcohols, while incorporating prebiotics, which support digestive health,” Mr Kittay said.
“In addition to being a healthier alternative, FUNDAY uses natural colors and flavors and offers a variety of vegan options. Each 50g serving [equivalent to one bag] is packed with 7g of dietary fiber, keeping our customers fuller for longer, unlike regular lollies that may leave them feeling hungry and unsatisfied.
“We take great care in our sourcing policy, ensuring that we meet industry standards, as well as our customers’ and our own standards. Whenever possible, we prefer to source materials directly from manufacturers,” he said.
Mr Kittay says he is committed to producing high-quality products, which is why FUNDAY work with multiple partners who share their values and standards. “Our team has developed a unique recipe using a classic starch moulding process to produce our delicious gummy products. However, creating this recipe was no easy feat. It took over 12 months of research and development to perfect the recipe due to the complexity of removing sugar and sweeteners while adding in fibre. Our dedication to providing a healthy option for our customers means we never compromise on the quality of our products,” he said.
