Fine Food Australia supports OzHarvest’s efforts

Fine Food Australia has announced an “enhanced support initiative” with food rescue organisation OzHarvest.

After a successful collaboration in 2022 utilising OzHarvest’s food rescue service, Fine Food Australia says it’s taking a “significant step forward” in 2024 by introducing an option for monetary donations at registration, a first in its history.

“We are extremely happy to support such a vital organisation as OzHarvest,” says Diversified Communications Managing Director David Longman. “Their remarkable work in food rescue not only complements our sustainability goals but also actively contributes to a solution that addresses both food wastage and food insecurity.”

Working with OzHarvest ensures that no good food goes to waste during the Fine Food Australia events, redirecting quality food items to those in need across Melbourne.

In 2022, OzHarvest successfully rescued 1900kg of food during the final days of the Fine Food event, aiding numerous charities and vulnerable individuals. This year, Fine Food Australia anticipates an even greater contribution, with an array of food items ranging from fruits and vegetables to prepared meals and dairy products directed to donation.

“We are so grateful for the support from FFA,” says OzHarvest Victoria & South Australia Engagement Manager Alana Roberts.

“Every $1 donated to OzHarvest allows us to deliver two meals to an Australian in need. This support is crucial in helping us continue our mission to feed vulnerable Australians and reduce food waste.”

Fine Food Australia, celebrating its 40th year in 2024, will be held 2-5 September at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. To register for free, visit finefoodaustralia.com.au.
