Costco has announced the opening of its Ardeer warehouse at 8am on 9 April 2025 at 740 Ballarat Road, Ardeer in Victoria. The fuel station, Costco’s largest in Australia, has been open since early March 2025.
At an exclusive media-only preview event on 7 April, Costco Australia and New Zealand Marketing and eCommerce Director, Megan Belanger, led a tour of the warehouse ahead of this Wednesday’s grand opening. Belanger gave attendees an exclusive look at “wow” items, unique/high-end items that will be available for members to purchase once the warehouse opens.
Some of the “wow” items available are a 15L container of ghee, 7.5kg tub of Maggi gravy mix, 4.5L Grey Goose vodka, and delicious 2kg Kirkland Signature Cheesecake with Pisti pistachio spread. Others include a 100-inch Hisense smart TV, Segway GO Kart Pro 2, extra-large golf cart, two-person infrared sauna, and transparent outdoor igloo.
“All of these items offer Costco’s signature amazing value and quality. Stock is limited, so members should get in quick to grab their favourite items on opening day,” says Ms Belanger. Exclusive opening week savings will also be available at the warehouse.
Thousands of brand-name products across categories like groceries, electronics, jewellery, homewares and cleaning supplies will be stocked at the warehouse. Speciality departments including a bakery, meat, produce, deli, Optical, Hearing Aid Centre, Tyre Centre, and food court are also available, as are a range of services to help members save beyond the warehouse on insurance, utilities, vehicles, and more.
The new warehouse at Ardeer is replacing Costco’s first Australian warehouse at Docklands to offer members a more convenient shopping experience. It has approximately 16,000sqm of floor area, and 760 car parking spaces. The warehouse represents an overall $118 million investment for Costco in the Ardeer community, employing over 2000 workers during construction and over 300 people when open.
“Costco sees this region as dynamic and fast-growing and we believe that we can bring great value in relation to a wide range of products and services to the community,” says Ms Belanger.
To ensure there is no interruption to Costco warehouse access for local members, Docklands warehouse will finish trading on Tuesday evening on 8 April, ahead of Ardeer warehouse’s Wednesday morning opening.
Since the fuel station opening, Costco has offered Melbourne members “incredible value” at the pump. Local members have shared positive reviews on social media, impressed with the low prices Costco consistently offers, and the impact new competition is having in the area. The Costco Ardeer fuel station offers ULP 91, premium 98 and premium diesel at 38 filling positions.
An annual Costco membership costs $65 for businesses, $65 for individuals, and $130 for Executive Membership. To sign up, visit costco.com.au/membership.
