Coles Local joins iconic Toorak Village in Melbourne

A new Coles Local store was unveiled to customers at Toorak Village in Melbourne, officially opening its doors on 17 May. Featuring some of Melbourne’s finest local suppliers, the new store forms part of the newly completed St Germain development.

Curated to inspire local shoppers, Coles Local Toorak Village features a selection of Melbourne’s favourite suppliers, including sweet treats from Cremorne St Bakers, baked fresh daily just down the road. The store also offers authentic French bread from Laurent bakery, another icon of Toorak Village for more than two decades. Customers can pick up a fresh loaf thanks to the store’s bread warmer and bread slicer.

Designed as a grab-and-go destination, Coles Local Toorak Village offers an extended range of convenience meals, including pastas, lasagnes and pizzas from Brunswick’s 400 Gradi. Customers can pick up a range of salads and soups from Foxes Den, or a gourmet sandwich, focaccia or bagel from Aston Lucas Gourmet, a brand-new supplier to Coles Local.

Coles Local Toorak Village features an impressive 12-foot cheese case with a range of the best Australian made and international specialty cheese, including local supplier That’s Amore.

Customers can also pick up a selection of gourmet meats from specialty butcher Meatsmith, and after-dinner treats are sorted with store’s the frozen dessert bar including macarons, mochi, mini gelato and single-serve ice creams.

The new store offers shoppers a thoughtfully crafted range of high-quality products from over 100 suppliers, and a tailored in-store experience that matches the grandeur of the famed shopping strip.

Toorak Road is host to an exclusive array of restaurants, bustling cafes, and specialty boutiques. Coles Local Toorak Village joins the rich tapestry of the local community as part of the new St Germain development, a one-of-a-kind commercial space comprising offices and a roof top garden with sweeping views of Melbourne.

Melbourne-based artist and illustrator Emma Leonard has been commissioned to create a series of murals displayed throughout the store, which reflect the relaxed atmosphere of the Toorak community. Her artwork weaves street scenes with distinct village features to create a uniquely recognisable artistic expression. Emma’s designs are also displayed on reusable shopping bags available to purchase only at Coles Local Toorak Village, offering customers a memento that’s uniquely Toorak.

Located a few doors down is Vintage Cellars, making it easy for locals to pick up their food and drinks in one shop. Like Coles Local, Vintage Cellars offers customers top-quality wines and spirits from local suppliers to meet the tastes and preferences of the community.

Coles Local Toorak Village Store Manager Jake Parker has worked with Coles for over 15 years, with the last few years working on Coles Local format stores. He leads a team of 70, with 54 team members brand new to Coles.

“We couldn’t be more excited to join one of Melbourne’s most renowned shopping strips and to offer customers a shopping experience that really reflects the energy of the local community,” Mr Parker said.

“Our Local format stores are developed with the community top-of-mind. Each element of the store has been curated to provide a unique experience which really champions Melbourne’s most loved suppliers, with the convenience and products customers can expect to find in a regular Coles store.”

Supporting the local community, the team at Coles Local Toorak Village Street will be supporting Armadale Primary School with a $3000 donation towards their Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program, to encourage students to adopt lifelong healthy eating habits.

The store will donate all unsold edible food to SecondBite, which will be used to cook nutritious meals, stock community food pantries and provide food hampers to those in need in the local community.

Coles Local Toorak Village is located at 507 Toorak Road, Toorak. The store is open 7am – 10pm daily with free underground parking available for the first 1.5 hours. It is the eighth Coles Local store to open in Victoria, and the 19th to open nationally.
