BP Australia will donate $50,000 in fuel to support drought-hit farmers.
The network made the announcement yesterday morning on Channel Nine’s Today show.
Today launched its Drought Relief Appeal last Thursday morning. The funds will go to support Australian farmers, who are experiencing the driest winter on record.
The BP Australia donation was pledged live during Today show’s Farm Aid Telethon, hosted by Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner.
“On behalf of the BP team, we’re proud to donate $50,000 in fuel,” BP Australia President Andy Holmes said. “For those in need, filling up their next tank is on us.
“We know farmers and our rural communities are doing it tough right now. Many of those impacted by the drought are also our customers.
“It’s important that we give back to the community, so it was an easy ‘yes’ when we were asked to help out.”
The fuel donation, which follows donations from the likes of Woolworths and Coles, will be made available as fuel gift cards.
