Allpress Espresso has launched a limited release single-origin coffee that will give back to Indonesian communities and humanitarian charity, SurfAid.
Inspired by its long association with Indonesia, the coffee roaster has worked directly with a coffee farm in Sumatra to curate the brew, made from beans harvested just once a year
Allpress Global Brand Manager Rob Lockyear says the coffee is an opportunity to combine a product made for coffee lovers with the roaster’s long association with SurfAid and Wahana Estate to help support the community that helped them make world-class coffee.
“This limited-edition collaboration with Surf Aid was a very natural fit for Allpress and is close to our hearts. We’ve been working with Wahana Estate for years, so it’s great to provide further support for the people of Sumatra,” he says.
“The coffee is roasted at our HQ in Melbourne, the home of Australia’s cafe culture. We had great success amongst coffee enthusiasts and surfers alike, when we initially partnered with Surf Aid in 2020. We know this release will be highly sought after, and once it’s gone, you won’t be able to get it again this year.”
The team has set its sights on a $20,000 donation to the cause, with all profits from the brew going straight to SurfAid.
About the product
The Rasuna Longberry varietal is grown on Sumatran coffee farm, Wahana Estate, and offers a “sweet, full-bodied coffee with hints of cherry, blackcurrant and chocolate”.
Naturally processed, it is dried with the cherry fruit still attached to the bean. This is said to help to impart the fruit flavours creating a unique flavour.
Availability
The limited release coffee, sold in compostable packaging and 250g ($18) and 1kg ($72) sizes, will be available from today (20 June) until mid-July, or until sold out.
It’s available online at allpress.com, at Allpress roastery cafes and select wholesale partners.
