The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia increased by 5.9¢ to 129.9¢ a litre nationally in the week ending June 4, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price increased by 8¢ to 129.9¢ a litre, with the regional price increasing 1.4¢ to 129.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 138.6¢ a litre, followed by South Australia and Victoria (135.2¢), the Northern Territory (133.8¢), NSW/ACT (129.6¢), Western Australia (128¢) and Queensland (121.3¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 116.5¢ a litre, followed by Perth (126.8¢), Canberra (129.7¢), Sydney (130.3¢), Darwin (131.4¢), Melbourne (137.3¢), Adelaide (137.9¢) and Hobart (138.1¢).
