The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose by 0.4¢ to 126.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending April 23, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose by 0.8¢ to 125.6¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 0.5¢ to 129.2¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 140¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (134¢), WA (128.8¢), NSW/ACT (128.1¢), Victoria (124.9¢), Queensland (124.8¢) and South Australia (124.7¢).
Of the major cities, Brisbane offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 121¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (123.6¢), Melbourne (124.5¢), Perth (127.8¢), Sydney (128.2¢), Canberra (130.3¢), Darwin (131.5¢) and Hobart (140.3¢).
