Drumstick reimagines the Anzac biscuit

Taking inspiration from the humble Aussie biscuit tin, Drumstick’s newest variant is a frozen take on the familiar flavours of the classic Anzac biscuit.

Drumstick Anzac Biscuit features a biscuit-flavoured centre packed with Anzac biscuit pieces, swirled with caramel syrup and topped with even more Anzac biscuit crumb, with butter, caramel and toffee flavours throughout.

“Drumstick has been part of Aussie summers for more than 60 years, so we love finding new ways to bring familiar favourites into the cone,” said Head of Marketing at Peters Ice Cream, Andrea Hamori.

“Drumstick Anzac Biscuit brings together two nostalgic Aussie favourites in a way that feels familiar, but completely new. It’s buttery, sweet, packed with biscuit pieces and, most importantly, it’s a treat you’d actually  be happy to find waiting in Nan’s biscuit tin.”

Created with respect for the Anzac biscuit tradition, Peters secured the appropriate permit from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs to use the word ‘Anzac’ for the new flavour.

“Legacy Australia is very grateful to Peters Ice Cream for their generous donation in celebration of the launch of their ANZAC biscuit inspired Drumstick,” said Legacy Australia Inc CEO Graham Boyd.

“Peters Ice Cream has been an iconic part of Australian family life, and we’re proud to have their support. This kind of generosity makes a real difference to the work we do every day, helping Legacy strengthen the wellbeing and connectedness of veterans’ families through enduring relationships.”

Drumstick reveals biscuit tin secrets

Celebrating the launch Drumstick Anzac Biscuit, Peters Ice Cream commissioned research that reveals the humble biscuit tin houses far more than its name suggests.

The research, conducted by Pureprofile, found only 32% of Aussies associate Nan’s tin with biscuits or cookies, while 21% associate it with sewing supplies – suggesting the humble biscuit tin continues to house far more than its name suggests.

And it turns out where you grew up and how old you are can make a difference to what’s hiding in Nan’s tin.

  • Queensland Nans are the most ‘rogue’, with 34% of Queenslanders mentioning a non-food find in Nan’s biscuit tin
  • NSW Nans are more likely to deliver on the snacks, with 63% mentioning food or biscuits, compared with 59% of Aussies nationally.

Drumstick Anzac Biscuit four-packs (RRP $9.90) are available from this week at Coles, Woolworths and independent grocers, with individual Drumstick Anzac Biscuit cones (RRP $5) available at convenience stores from 19 October.
