The purpose-built store in southern Queensland opened with a bang on December 5 with a Lions Club sausage sizzle, face painting, and official ribbon cutting ceremony, complete with cake.
The new store offers fresh produce, straight from the markets and local farmers, plus a strong deli offering with sharp prices across all of its fresh departments. In addition to this, customers can find all of their grocery, dairy, frozen and general supermarket needs.
Store owner Nick Holman, along with his wife and two children, plan to bring their passion for retail to Jandowae. He says teaming up with SPAR Australia and bringing the renowned international brand to Jandowae will see a fantastic new offer available in the region.
“I have a 28-year history in retail, working for multinational companies and independent retailers,” he said.
“I worked my way up from pushing trolleys. I have a passion for people and am determined to give my customers a great shopping experience.”
The Holman family is also passionate about Jandowae.
“Our plans are to listen to what the community wants and evolve with them,” Mr Holman said. “The community did not have a strong fresh offering, so we have focused on produce and using fresh offerings in the community.”
The Holmans hope the community will support their new business, just as they plan to support the community.
“Community is very important to me and supporting the town and the shire,” Mr Holman said. “When established, we want to support the local horse community and football clubs.”
Mr Holman believes he couldn’t have chosen a better partner to achieve this dream than SPAR Australia. SPAR’s ‘family business helping family businesses’ philosophy is a perfect fit.
“Choosing SPAR I felt I was being welcomed into a family,” he said. “The support and advice for a first-time owner has helped beyond what I expected.”
SPAR Jandowae trades seven days a week, from 7am to 7pm Mondays to Fridays, 8am to 5pm on Saturdays and 8am to 4pm on Sundays to ensure great convenience for customers.
