Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell 4.1¢ to 178.4¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 15 September, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell 4.6¢ to 178.7¢ a litre, while the regional price fell 3.2¢ to 177.8¢ a litre.

The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 188.7¢ a litre, followed by Victoria (187.2¢), Queensland (177.6¢), Tasmania (177.2¢), South Australia (176.1¢), NSW/ACT (174.2¢), and Western Australia (173.3¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 170.3¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (170.4¢), Perth (171.9¢), Hobart (175.4¢), Adelaide (175.7¢), Brisbane (178.3¢), Canberra (182.7¢), and Melbourne (190.9¢).
