Costco has announced a $75M investment on a new retail development and is set to develop its third warehouse in Coomera, Queensland, commencing construction on the landmark 14,000sqm warehouse. The warehouse will have a 783-car parking lot and a fuel station, with its location adjacent to Westfield Coomera.
The construction of this warehouse will be completed by ADCO Constructions, who also worked on both of the other Queensland projects in North Lakes and Ipswich.
ADCO’s Queensland State Manager Brad Eathorne says: “ADCO is delighted to be builder of choice once again for our valued client, Costco. As national leaders in large-format retail construction, we are excited to see the Gold Coast community embrace this high-quality addition to the area when complete”.
This site is set to create more than 120 full-time jobs during construction and 250 full-time jobs once complete. The retail outlet is great news for Coomera, and a vote of confidence in the continued growth in the Gold Coast.
Scentre Group Director Development Stewart White says: “This is an exciting milestone in our long-term vision for the Westfield Coomera Town Centre. Getting construction started on Costco is another step towards our goal of delivering an unrivalled living destination for the northern Gold Coast”.
Mr White explained that following Westfield Coomera’s completion in 2018, the destination is flourishing and providing essential, social infrastructure for the community.
“We are looking forward to Costco bringing their extensive and valued offer to the community and our customers, complementing the existing mix of retail, services, entertainment, dining and experiences at Westfield Coomera,” he said.
Costco Australia Managing Director Patrick Noone is confident that the people of the community at Coomera Town Centre and surrounds, including the broader Gold Coast corridor in South East Queensland, will benefit from the unique shopping experience Costco offers.
“Costco provides its members with exclusive access to quality brand-name merchandise at substantially lower prices than typically found at conventional wholesale or retail stores. By becoming a member before the opening, you’ll be able to take advantage of the great savings without queuing to sign up for membership,” Mr Noone said.
Thousands of brand-name products can be found in groceries, confectionary, appliances, television and media, automotive supplies, toys, hardware, sporting goods, jewellery, watches, cameras, books, housewares, apparel, health and beauty aids, furniture, office supplies and office equipment.
The Coomera location will also feature a variety of convenient specialty departments including a bakery, fresh meat, fresh produce, deli, optical department, hearing aid centre, fuel station, tyre centre and food court.
Costco has over 830 sites around the world, and 13 other warehouse locations across the country.
An annual Costco membership will cost $55 for businesses and $60 for individuals. To sign up for a Costco membership, visit costco.com.au.
The warehouse is set to open in 2023.
