The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 3.4¢ to 143.6¢ a litre nationally in the week ending September 15, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 4.1¢ to 144.5¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 1.9¢ to 141.6¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in Queensland at 151.3¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (150.3¢), NT (150.3¢), NSW/ACT (146.8¢), South Australia (143.8¢), Western Australia (140.0¢), Queensland (138.7¢) and Victoria (134.0¢).
Of the major cities, Melbourne offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 132.7¢ a litre, followed by Darwin (138.3), Perth (138.5¢), Canberra (141.4¢), Adelaide (142.6), Sydney (151.3¢) and Hobart (151.4¢) and Brisbane (157.4¢).
