Weekly diesel prices

The average price of diesel fuel in Australia stayed at 146.8¢ a litre nationally in the week ending September 15, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Diesel Prices’ report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell by 0.1¢ to 145.2¢ a litre, while the regional price stayed at 148.0¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in the NT at 161.2¢ a litre, followed by Tasmania (157.7¢), South Australia (148.3¢), Western Australia (147.5¢), NSW/ACT (146.6¢), Queensland (145.9¢) and Victoria (144.3¢).

Of the major cities, Adelaide offered the cheapest diesel for the week at 142.8¢ a litre, followed by Melbourne (144.1), Sydney (144.3¢), Perth (145.1¢), Brisbane (145.5¢), Darwin (145.9¢), Canberra (151.1¢) and Hobart (158.6).
