Woolworths announces leadership changes

Woolworths has appointed Brad Banducci as Managing Director Australian Food and Liquor following the resignation of Tjeerd Jegen.

Mr Banducci has driven Woolworths’ success in liquor and will maintain leadership of the Woolworths Liquor Group until a new appointment has been made.

Martin Smith, General Manager of Dan Murphy’s, will act as Director of the Woolworths Liquor Group to provide additional support to Mr Banducci. Dave Chambers has been appointed Director, Woolworths Supermarkets, reporting to Mr Banducci.

“Dave has been the Managing Director of Progressive Enterprises in New Zealand for the past four years,” Woolworths CEO Grant O’Brien said. “This change places our best talent to lead our biggest businesses. Together, Brad and Dave bring the right mix of experience and the ability to create a winning operating culture.”

The changes follow the resignation of Mr Jegen as Managing Director, Australian Supermarkets and Petrol.

“After almost four years in Australia and 15 years away from my home country of the Netherlands, I will be returning to Europe,” he said. “I would like to thank the Australian Supermarkets and Petrol team for the past four years and would like to wish Brad and Dave all the best in their new roles.”
