Weekly petrol prices

The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell by 3.5¢ to 120¢ a litre nationally in the week ending July 2, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.

The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell by 4.5¢ to 117¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 1.8¢ to 125.9¢ a litre.

The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 137.3¢ a litre, followed by the Northern Territory (133.3¢), Queensland (125.1¢), Western Australia (121.8¢), Victoria (118.4¢), South Australia (116.7¢) and NSW/ACT (116.5¢).

Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 110.1¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (113.8¢), Melbourne (116.5¢), Perth (119.4¢), Brisbane (123.2¢), Canberra (129.2¢), Darwin (130.9¢) and Hobart (137¢).
