The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 11.1¢ to 153.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 4 July, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 15.3¢ to 157.9¢ a litre, with the regional price rising 2.8¢ to 144.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Victoria at 158.1¢ a litre, followed by NSW/ACT (155.7¢), NT (152.9¢), Queensland (150.9¢), South Australia (149.5¢), Tasmania (149.2¢), and Western Australia (145.6¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 140.7¢ a litre, followed by Perth (145.4¢), Hobart (149.0¢), Canberra (150.4¢), Adelaide (151.9¢), Brisbane (154.9¢), Sydney (163.0¢), and Melbourne (164.5¢).
