The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia rose 2.5¢ to 187.5¢ a litre nationally in the week ending 9 April, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s ‘Weekly Petrol Prices’ report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price rose 3¢ to 189.4¢ a litre, while the regional price rose by 1.6¢ to 183.8¢ a litre.
The most expensive unleaded in the country was in the Northern Territory at 194.3¢ a litre, followed by NSW/ACT (191.4¢), Tasmania (189.5¢), Victoria (189.1¢), Queensland (183.7¢), and South Australia (182.4¢) and Western Australia (182.4¢).
Of the major cities, Darwin offered the cheapest unleaded for the week at 179.8¢ a litre, followed by Adelaide (181.4¢), Perth (181.5¢), Brisbane (184.5¢), Canberra (185.7¢), Hobart (188.8¢), Melbourne (192.7¢), and Sydney (196.9¢).
