The average price of unleaded petrol in Australia fell by 1.8¢ to 126.7¢ a litre nationally in the week ending September 3, according to the Australian Institute of Petroleum’s Weekly Petrol Prices report.
The average national weekly metropolitan retail price fell by 2.3¢ to 126.5¢ a litre, with the regional price falling 0.8¢ to 127.2¢ a litre.
The most expensive fuel in the country was in Tasmania at 135.7¢ a litre, followed by Queensland (132.5¢), South Australia (131.6¢), the Northern Territory (131.3¢), Victoria (128.2¢), Western Australia (126.9¢), and NSW/ACT (119.9¢).
Of the major cities, Sydney offered the cheapest fuel for the week at 115.3¢ a litre, followed by Perth (125.9¢), Canberra (127.4¢), Darwin (128.2¢), Melbourne (128.8¢), Brisbane (133.7¢), Adelaide (134.2¢) and Hobart (135.8¢).
